First of all, make a list of all the possible career options that you desire. Then, narrow the list down to 2 or 3 options considering your interests and skills.
Michael The point is that I’m not sure about my interests.
Counselor I see, Michael. Things can be difficult and stressful sometimes. Review your academic performance and try to figure out your strengths and weaknesses subject by subject. Try to remember which subjects you have enjoyed the most. I hear that you have always been good at math. Is that true?
Michael That’s right, I love math. I probably should consider a career as a math teacher or an engineer. One more thing, when should I start to seek applications?
Counselor Be patient, Michael. First, discover your interests and strengths. Graduate from school, and then seek for applications. In the meantime, try to form a good resumé.
Michael Oh, that’s great! What do I need to know about writing a resumé?
Counselor Remember the writing courses you’ve taken. Choose a resumé template and study the sample resumés. Be clear, specific, and careful while writing about your skills and background.
