Meaza Nuruc is 18. She lives in the rural part of Ethiopia. Here, she talks about her Cife.
I’m the oldest child in the family and I look after my brothers and sisters. This is how it works here. I attended school until I was 12 as it is compulsory.
Early schooling and primary education is given in our mother tongue but in secondary schools, education language becomes English. Over four-
fifths of men work in agriculture.___________ ________________________. Women do the
household chores. We don’t have running water and electricity in our homes. All water has to be carried from the nearby well which is also a woman task. We mostly eat beans, lentils, chickpeas, bread
