Ramadan is a holy month for the Muslim. It is an important religious festival. Ramadan is the month of fasting during daylight hours. Fasting people do not eat or drink anything between dawn and sunset. People wake up at dawn with the voice of drums and chants.They also give up bad habits, and try to be model human beings for the whole month of Ramadan. Many people give money to charity during Ramadan. It is also a time of praying and coming together. Especially “Iftar” is an important detail in this month. It is the evening meal just after the sunset. At this meal you can see the most delicious traditional meals. People eat date as a starter for their meals. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and the start date is based on the appearance of the crescent moon. The lenght of daily fasting also changes. Children, pregnant women and people who are sick are not expected to fast. Young people normally start fasting when they are teenagers. At the end of this month, they celebrate the Ramadan Feast. Children put on the most beautiful clothes. They visit their neighbours. They give candies, money to the children to celebrate this holy festival.
