Elvis Presley was born in Mississippi on 8th January in 1935. His family was poor, so he grew up in poverty. Elvis had to leave his school and began to work. He worked as a truck driver and did some other jobs. He was talented in music, so his mother bought him a guitar. He could play it very well. When his family moved to Memphis, he met Sam Philips there. He had a record company and realised that Elvis was a good singer. Some time later, Elvis met Tom Parker. He became his manager and made Elvis a famous rock star. In 1956, Elvis released his first record. It became a hit. It was the year Elvis made his first film, too.
Elvis met his wife, Pricilla, in Germany while he was serving in the army.
They got married and had a daughter.
Although he was popular and rich, Elvis was a lonely man. In 1977, he got a heart attack and died at the age of 42.
