Barış Manço was bom on the 2nd of January, 1943 in Üsküdar, İstanbul. He grew up in İstanbul and Ankara. In 1978, he got married to Lale Çağlar, and they had two sons.
He began his secondary education at Galatasaray High School, and he continued studying at Şişli Terakki High School. In 1963, he moved to Belgium for his university education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and graduated from there in 1969.
He composed more than 200 songs during his career. He had many translated songs in different languages.
He was a musician and a television producer.
He combined music and talk show in his TV programme, From 7 to 77 in 1988. This TV programme continued for 8 years, and he travelled to almost 150 countries for this show. He was the first traveller of Turkish television. He gave concerts in 17 different cities in Japan in the years of 1990 and 1991. He received över 3000 awards in his 40-year-old career.
He died of a heart attack on the lst of February, 1999. His sudden death caused a shock in Türkiye. Thousands of people attended his funeral. He is stili in the hearts of Turkish people with his brilliant works.
