We have nine planets in our solar system. These planets circle around the Sun. Our Sun is one of the stars.
There are two parts in our solar system: the Inner Solar System and the Outer Solar System. In the Inner Solar System, there are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.They are closer planets to the Sun than the others, and they have got very solid, rocky surfaces. The Outer Solar System has got Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. They are gas giants. Pluto is a dwarf planet. It has got a solid but icier surface. The Asteroid belt separates these two systems.
Our solar system also contains comets, dust, gas and some minor planets.
