SAPPORO WINTER FEST
Sapporo Winter Festival is one of the best ones that can be described as an art festival. It is held at a park in Susukino, Japan. It dates back to 1950 when it snowed heavily and several high school students built statues of ice andsnow in Odori Park. Then, in 1972, Winter Olympics were held in Japan and Japanese people had the chance to introduce Sapporo Fest to the rest of the world. Besides just watching artists carving the snow, there are many events that you can enjoy your time. Skiing, snowballfighting, ice sliding andstage performances are organised during the festival, too. The number of the participants is about 2 million per year. While most of them are Japanese, five per cent of them are tourists. If you are a winter person, you can join and have fun in Sapporo.
