While narrating a story, there are five steps to follow:
1- Making an introduction
2- Giving background information
3- Telling the main events
4- Concluding the story
5- Making a final comment
Imagine that you wake up at a strange place that you have never been before. You don’t have a car or a mobile phone. Where are you? What are the things around you? Describe the place using prepositions of movement and tell your survival story to your partner. Follow the narrating steps.
GAME TIME
First, decide on a title to create your own funny story with your classmates. One student begins telling the story and stops after a few sentences. The next student continues and then stops. The student who is in turn adds a few sentences until the story comes to an end. Use your imagination and try to be as funny as possible. Record the story and listen to it after the game.
a- Remember that you were in a strange place. How could you survive? Write a paragraph using sequencing words such as ‘first’, ‘then’, ‘after that’ or ‘in the end’. Follow the narrating steps.
b- Work in pairs. Tell your stories to each other.
