Nowadays, teens are inevitably developing key relationships and communication skills to spend more time together. Naturally, technology gives them new ways to do them. For example, texting and e-mail chains have been used most commonly by teens and young adults who do not prefer using face to face communication. At first, it is seemed as a negative point for teens but they show that they are using the technology functionally, without doing any harm. Taking it a step further, some teens create their own technological lives.
Social networking sites and texting can not change who I am. For me, all this process is an extension to real life, not a real replacement. I like sharing as much as I can because that is my natural chance for fame. In fact, it works much more than I have expected. Sharing my photos and ideas are the easiest and the most common ways to keep in touch with my online friends. I also gain good qualities such as having different point of views on different subjects. Besides, while sharing my ideas, I care about their lives and also consider their comments. Shortly, we witness every moment of
our lives.
İn spite ofmyparents’ bias, I can easily hang out with my friends, which is an option for socializing when I am online. Although I am not addicted to social media, I can not think a world without it. On the other hand, I use my mobile phone to learn homework or other news about my friends and school. I even use it for communication with mum. When she is in the kitchen, I send a text message about a coffee break with a smiley and she brings it in my room so that I can go
on what I study.
Since I am quite a shy person, social network sites helps me to be more of myself. When I am online, it is always easier to be myself. For example, I can easily edit whatever I want to say. So, I don’t feel awkward. In my opinion, new communication technologies will bring people closer. For instance, when I am online, I can find at least 100 or200 friends to share myideas easily, where I have 1500 friends in my portfolio.
My reading and writing skills have been strengthened by the text messages that I am sending in my daily life for a very long time. My obsession with texting and tweeting has actually helped me in improving my literacy rates because I am spending so much time in creating and responding text messages. I am able to say whatever I think freely which people do not find strange on the social network sites.
[ü Who says these sentences?
1. We learn every moment of our lives easily by the help of social network sites.
2. I gained my confidence in chat rooms.
3. I can not say that I am addicted to social media.
4. My literacy rate has been improved so far by texting and tweeting.
