LEGEND OF GORDİAN
KNOT
In 333 B.C. Alexander the Great invaded Asia Minor and arrived in the town of Gordium. He
dreamed to conquer the known world. 1)………………………………………………………………..he wanted to
prove to his troops and enemies that his dream was possible.
In Gordium, there was an ox cart put there by the King of Phrygia over 100 years ago. 2)…..

able to release the knot would be the Lord of all Asia. Although many years passed, and many men tried to untie the famous Gordian knot, no one succeeded.
This was a chance for Alexander the Great to prove himself
by untying the legendary “Gordian Knot”. 3)………………………..

asked Aristander, his seer, “Does it matter how I do it?” Aristander couldn’t provide an answer, so Alexander pulled out his sword and cut through the knot. That night there was a huge storm with flashes of lightning. Aristander said that it was the Gods’ approval of Alexander’s action and proof of his success.
As the legend said, he won many battles and became the conqueror of the known world.
