What Sumerians believed
Sumerian mythology was formed many centuries before Roman and Greek Mythology.
Their familiar relationships with the gods of other cities were first developed by Sumerians. Sometimes two or more gods were viewed as one. Eventually a ranking order was developed among the gods. Anu, a sky god was regarded as the greatest of them all. The great gods were worshipped in the temples. They also believed that the ground they lived on had been created by their ancestors.
