Soru: 1) Read the text quickly to find what it is about.
The Story Behind Shopping Shopping has been part of human life for thousands of years. In the past, people didn't use money. Instead, they used a system called barter. In this system, people exchanged one thing for another. Around 600 BCE, the first coins appeared in Lydia, a place in today's Türkiye. This was an important change in how people bought and sold things. After people started using coins, open markets became popular in Ancient Greece and Rome. People went there to buy and sell goods, but also to meet others, talk, and share news. Markets became an important part of daily life. In the 1700s, the Industrial Revolution began. Factories started to produce goods in large numbers. This made products cheaper and easier to buy. In the 1800s, the first department shops opened in Paris. After that, people could shop for many different items in one place. This new way of shopping became very popular. In the 1900s, supermarkets gave people the chance to choose products from shelves. Since then, shopping has become more personal and experts say it is closely linked to mood, identity, and even the stress people experience. Today, shopping is global and online. Since the 1990s, people have been able to buy many things on the Internet. It is quick and easy, and many people enjoy shopping from home. However, it can also cause problems like spending too much money and having less contact with others. In sum, from old markets to online shops, shopping has always shown how people live, meet, and change over time.
